What is Mercerizing?
In 1844 John MERCER discovered that cotton fibres swelled when treated with sodium hydroxide, introducing the notion of MERCERIZING.
What Are The Benefits Of Mercerizing?
* Mercerizing increases thread luminosity.
* Breaking strength of threads improves.
* Dead and mature fibres get eliminated.
* Dye-intake of thread is improved and brighter colours are produced in comparison to non-mercerized cotton.
* Fabrics produced from mercerized threads enjoy a better size constancy.
* In the light of the advantages cited above, mercerized dyed threads create higher added value than ordinary dyed threads.
